We build structures in Revit with full shop drawings, stairs and platforms. Two items that we need help with is bolts and flat patterns.
In regards to the bolts, we need the bolt family to be smart, and show in a schedule what member it is bolted to. In other words what face it is attached to.
In regards to the flat patterns we can export all plates at once into a .dxf file using filters to shut off all items, we still need to go into AutoCAD and clean up extra lines and layers. If we can just export plates to (1) layer and only have 1 line, not mutiplie lines on top of one other this would be great. Does Revit have export to .CNC? G Code?
I have heard that we might be able to accomplish these items above maybe with the API? I have no experience with the API nor does anybody at our firm.
Any advise on these issues?
