distance from boundary for irregular shape

My site has an irregular boundary shape. I do not want to place anything within 3m from the boundary. Is there a way to help with this?

If you have a Site plan view showing the boundary, use the Detail Line command and use Pick Line with a 3m offset in the Options toolbar to make a new 3m boundary line that you can use as visual reference to model against.

Instead of using Detail lines I would use Reference Planes so that you can have and reference the Offset perimeter globally in any model views.
