Disassociate existing framing elevation from grid line?

There are some nice characteristics about framing elevations, such as the work plane being attached to the chosen grid line and the shallow view depth. After making the most of the presets for modelling purposes, I'd like to disassociate my framing elevation from the grid line and and adjust the view depth for sheet presentation. I've been unable to do either one. Am I missing something?

If not, I'll avoid using the framing elevation in the future and just use an elevation view instead because I can set a work plane to the grid line and enjoy some of the same benefits with none of the limitations.

Thanks!

One possible path is to use a reference plane instead of the grid for the datum of the elevation.  I have done this in the past with framing elevations in masonry construction.

You can adjust the clip depth the same as any other elevation/section in the properties of the view if I recall correctly.

You should be able to adjust either one in your properties box:

Yer right! I was trying (without success) to do this in a dependent view.

Thanks!
