Dimension without text wanted

I need a dimension without the texting. In CAD I could space bar the dimension and it would appear as a blank dimension. How do I do this in Revit 2009?

Put the dimension in, select the dimension, and then, the text. I have not tried a space to see if that works, but I'm sure a period will work. Why are you wanting a "blank" dimension?

One other method would be to create a dimension type where you define the text size as 1/256" for instance. The text is to small to be seen. As to why you want to do this, I'm assuming you want to place a piece of text, perhaps a different dimension in its place?

I can use smaller text or put a period there, but I thought maybe there might be a way to make it blank as I could in AutoCAD.
The engineers I draft for use it to note a few things together with the text leader going to a blank dimension line. There are other ways to note a group of materials, but I was trying to reproduce as requested.
I would like to be able to do what I could in CAD without creating anything special. Any hope of that?

are you using Revit 2009? New dimension text overrides can be applied now.

Yes, 2009.
I know you can override dimension text and replace with other text, but how can I do that and leave it blank (no text)?

You can use a "blank" font to create a new dimension style with blank text. Do a web search. Cannot upload mine onto here.

INSERT THE DIMENSION AS NORMAL.

CLICK ON THE DIMENSION AND OPEN THE PROPERTIES BOX FULLY.

IN THE TEXT OVERIDE FIELD TYPE IN JUST ONE SPACE.

Can be used a workaround to override the dimension....in this case instead of a value ,insert blank:

• select the dimension value >Dimension Value > Replace with Text - Right click > Insert Unicode control character > US -Unit Separator -Apply and OK . The dimension value is blank now..

Did you ever get an answer to the issue?  I too want to hit the spacebar to get a no text dimension line but can't find the setting to do so.

Hi Barbara,

Just click the dimension, then set it to "Replace with text" and then right click the text area and "Insert unicode character", "unit seperator". Refer also to the post right above yours.

it does but not the answer I wanted.  I liked it when you created a text you could hit the spacebar and have a dimension without text.  I'm lazy and want to do something in 1 step, not 2.  But seems Autocad doesn't truly want us to be efficient.  LOL  Thanks anyway.

Double click on the dimension then type a spacebar in the text override property.
That works with Autocad 2010.

hope everyone already solved this on how to get around not doing 3 steps each time we want to get a blank dimension.

after taking the steps of right clicking.. the "replace with text" box looks blank, but the unit separator actually there.

Just select all (CTRL+A) and copy (CTRL+C). It will select the unit separator.

Then at each dimension you want to blank out, just paste into the "replace with text" box. 

It WILL look like you pasted nothing... but its there!

I usually use a dimension type with white zero at text size.

but I don't know if that's allowable at 2009.

However you can try 0.0001 mm

Not sure if you can do it under 2009. In 2019, you can create a dimension style and change the text size to 0.
