Detail Components Won't Send to Back

I've been searching for a solution to this, maybe just not using the correct search phrases.

I am detailing some connections for a project and am detailing the connections using detail components. I have completed several elevation views and I can tell the components to move to back so that I get the hidden lines to show properly but now I am working on a plan view detail and all the components want to act as if they are on the same plane. They just all show all their lines. "Send to Front/Back" don't appear to change anything nor does "Show Hidden Lines."

I initially wanted to detail the connections using the model components to try to ensure better accuracy of the actual model but they told me not to include the plates in the model (I think just for ease/time). I tried to include plates there anyway and it kept giving me an error and wouldn't load the family so that option is out.

Thank you for your help.

I found a work around by just applying and hiding a section view.

Is it just that you can't detail plan views the way you can elevations?

Better Solution was to use drafting view.
