Creating a reference plane using 3 points in space

This is an old one ... I have 3 known points in space and would like to create a reference plane exactly through them using plain Revit.  Any easy or then more complicated procedure? I would use it for creating a workplane.

One of the idea posted onnthe Ideas board.

You could create an in place mass, add points, add a ref line for each two points to create a triangle, create a surface form from the triangle, then use pick face when you need to use it as a reference plane.

I have been very happy with the SetWorkplanePoint utility from RevitToy, available through the Autodesk app store. Unlike another suggestion here (and my own homegrown workaround) it does not require the creation of any additional objects, planes, or lines to clean up afterwards. You pick three points on two or more planes, with or without snaps, and it creates the new workplane, almost as fast as "UCS 3p" in AutoCAD.

At under $8 per year, it's well worth the price.
