Change material of multiple family types

Hi,

I have a family consisting of about 15 different types (differing dimensions of pipes). Now i'd like to change the material of a part of the sweep but when i change material in the Family Types properties pane it just changes the material for the selected type. Is there a quick way to change the material of all types of a family at the same time?

Kind regards,

Johan

So you have a material parameter connected to the geometry.

Normally you would use formulas for this. However this does not work for material parameters.

In your case it is still manageable with 15 types. You can use CTRL-C CTRL-V to copy the name of the material between the different types to speed it up a little.

If you would have many more types I would export the family types (FILE > EXPORT > FAMILY TYPES) and then open that catalog (.txt file) and use notepad or similar to do a search and replace and import it back into the family.

You will need to make sure that spelling of the  material name is correct and that the named material is already present in the family otherwise you will get errors.
