Best approach to detailing column strips

Hey,

What would be the best approach to applying all the strips and plates like in the drawing when there are a lot of columns like this(over 200)? Can I model all of this in 3D or would it be better to use detail items? Should I apply this to all columns or just to one?

The plates are relatively easy placed with connections, but it would take a lot of time to model all the little strips...

You can model it, but I would only model it on one for each variation then use a referenced detail for other similar locations.  Creating a strictly detailed (2d) is also an option, and again you could use a referenced detail for the other locations.

I suspect that modeling every little part in 3D will result in slow performance eventually... I guess I can anly find this out by trying.... But thanks

I would not recommend modeling it everywhere, there will definitely be a performance hit.  If you do opt to model everywhere, edit the parts so that they only show in fine detail so in a lower detail level they are not visible.  Or turn them off in  all views unless needed... by workset, category or filter.
