BEAM SYSTEM ERRORS

REVIT 2016

When I create a beam system that defaults to center and have to change it to use a direction line to adjust the spacing it will not let me change it without breaking the beam family. This makes no sense at all since the geometry does not change. I have to redo every beam system?

A beam system created with the beam direction line works. I am just unable to change it from center to direction line.

This didn't used to happen but now it is the default behavior.

Hi @DParkRMAK,

I went through the process you are describing and cannot create the problem.

Is there an error message that Revit shows?

Would you be able to upload a screencast of the problem or screenshots?

Thank you

Sorry I have not been able to get back to this. I don't know how to do a screencast and I really have not had time to follow up on this. I am having ongoing issues with beam systems. Today I am trying to add a grid to create a framing elevation and I am simply unable to create a grid in the location where it is needed. There are columns already there and there are beam systems above. I can create a grid anywhere else except along these 2 columns. When I make a grid anywhere else it creates it without hesitation.

When I move the grid to align with the columns or draw the grid in place where I want it, I get a few different errors. Sometimes it says lines must be in closed loops which sounds more like a beam system error. Most of the time it warns me to save a recovery file or it just crashes Revit.
