Is it at all possible to draw in a beam system with multiple beams but only display 1 beam with a span tag on a drawing?

I want to display only 1 joist in order to clean up my drawing but want the span tag for the system.

Thanks,

Typically this is how we detail our drawings as well.  I use a flexible detail component with both the single joist and arrowed extents marker.  I turn off the joists category in plan, this way I can still edit and tag the beam system in plan.

I am not entirely sure how you go to the label. I have attached a picture of how far I've gotten it. I just can't figure out how to get the joist line to show up and if so how to make it an adjustable line as I tag things because I have many different room and joist sizes.

The joist line and arrows shown in my clip are a single detail component.

And my tag is a text only version, tagged and moved to suit my joist line/arrow detail component placement.

Without the detail component, I would have to hide all the joists I don't want to see in the view.  Hidden elements tends to be unreliable, and alot of extra work itself, so I chose to create a detail component for this purpose instead.

The other thing you could do...is chose one of the joists in the beam system you want visible.  Change it's structural usage - to something you won't be needing, possibly like horizontal bracing.  Change horizontal bracing linetype to that of a joist.  This way you can hide all joists in the view but the "horizontal bracing" joist would remain visible.
