Beam hidden lines not showing in plan view, but show correctly in plot and plot preview

Hi all,

I have an annoying view issue:

my revit screen shows the following screen:

Hovering over the beam shows the correct geometry:

And when plotted or as plot preview it does show the way we want it to be:

Why is this different?

I know this is driven by the hidden lines (we set this in a solid because we want it that way) but why is the end result not the same as the workflow?

Thanks in advance.

can you provide the model, or at least a portion of the model, for us to look at?

we get this on larger projects on some workstations. To be honest we chalk it up to bad videoe card.

There is a knowledge base article about this bug:

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/revit/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Inconsis...

Do note: There is no need to use the linework tool as this only is an issue when viewing the structural plans in revit and not with printouts (YMMV).

The discussion with Customer Support yielded the below response [from Autodesk Customer Support]:
I was able to recreate the issue on my end with the sample Revit 2023 project. There is an existing ticket with the development team & they are working on a fix for the issue raised which is likely to reflect in upcoming updates of Revit. At the moment we do not have an ETA for this fix but please be assured that our teams are working on this issue...

Showing hidden lines to show "All" is not a fix as this shows every line and makes the drawing look like chaos:

with hidden line to "by discipline":

Hidden lines set to "All"

And even though it looks good in plot preview (thank god for that) builing up a model in revit with wrong graphics is just meant to make errors.

Look at the dimensions in this image. How confusing is this?

These errors should be fixed asap, like as top priority!

I completely agree that these should be a top priority. The work around should only used as such when working with a [plan] view in Revit and not a solution to the problem. What I do is enable "Temporary View Properties" and then set hidden lines to all only when I am working on that plan. When I am done in that view I "Restore View Properties" to reset the view to my normal template with hidden lines 'By Discipline'.

side note: if you look on this first page of forum posts you will see 3 posts all regarding hidden line issues.

Hi everyone,

Revit 2024 includes a couple of fixes related to hidden lines, which may address some of the cases referred to in this thread. I would really appreciate it if you could try to see how these views are displayed in the latest Revit version.

If the problem still persists, please share the files with me on this thread or send me a private message.

You can read more about this release here, and on this link you can find the full list of fixes.

Kind regards,

after 5 months shouldn't be there an update of the revit version where the problem occurs, we cannot update to a newer revit version without consulting partners from other disciplines!
