Does any one know how I can get my dimension arrow to flip when I reach a small dimension using the arrow-tick style. We like to show our dimensions as arrow to grid and tick to all other elements. I have attached a photo. Any help would be great

I guess arrow dimension sizes in Revit are pre -defined and you cannot be able to control the sizes unless you created a small size? Thanks

we have an arrow-arrow dim style and when the dimension is small the arrows flip out, but the second I try it with our arrow-tick the arrow will not flip out.  Is there a way to get that arrow on the arrow-tick dimension to flip out when over lapping the tick.

Hi @andrea.kikuchi

I have attached a model and set up a couple dimension examples, so hopefully it is pretty obvious what I am talking about.

Thank you for uploading the model. I'm not sure exactly what you are looking to accomplish here, can you provide an annotated screenshot of what you need? Thanks!

Can you change the scale? It looks to appear with both arrow and tick mark at 1:50 scale.

Do you mean, change the scale of the drawing? IF so, yes, but I have it at 1:100 to show how the arrow on the arrow-tick dimension style will not rotate out of the dimension line when the dimension gets to small.

I understand. I took a look at the model you shared and see that the arrow you are referring to is an ordinate dimension which doesn't have the functionality to flip the dimension due to the nature of what an ordinate dimension is representing (distance from an origin). This is what is happening in the Continuous Dimension shown at the top dimension string. The direction of the arrow tick mark matters for Ordinate dimensions because it's showing the dimension from the origin.

As a workaround you could set the Dimension Line Extension for this dimension to show the desired line, but you may need to create a separate additional dimension type to avoid showing that extension for cases in which it's undesirable.

Thanks. Any suggestions on how to set that up. Creating dimension types are not my thing.

thanks everyone, we came up with a pretty slick way to fix our problem and a nice little dynamo routine.
