3D or 2D grids

What does the 3D/2D toggle do for column grids? I'm currently running MEP 2009 and heard rumors that grids should be toggled to 2D in order to mask them on a sheet for plotting (which I currently have a need for). So, I was just curious what the toggle does?

Thanks,
Matt

The 2d/3d toggle on grid and level line indicates
if the annotation representing the line and the symbols at the end of the line
are being represented in 2d (this view only) or 3d (all views).  This comes
into play when you are making adjustments of the grid or level line so it makes
sense in you documentation.  So if they are set to 3d and you move the end
to be close to the building geometry you are moving that grid bubble/edn in all
the view or in 3d model space if you will.  If it is set to 2d when you are
moving it the location of the grid bubble/level head is only changing in that
view.  All other views it is staying put.

Is there a fast way to toggle back 2D Grids to 3D Grids. I've tried to move them back to the purple circle that indicates the 3D location point in Grid Lines, but they don't turn back into 3D. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for your help!

You have to click on each blue 2d/3d toggle.

There is an add-in that turns on/off Bubbles of multiple Grids/Levels called ReviTea Grid/Level Tools.

Here is a link to get it and how to use it:
