2019 Revit Structures - Baseplate connection - Anchor Bolts

Getting used to the Structural side of Revit.

Skimmed through a few of the related topics but didn't see a specific one on my issue.

The issue I seem to be having is that I can't find the baseplate in the families or how to edit the predefined anchor bolts.

I need 1-1/2" anchors and it stops at 1-1/4".

Not sure where to find the table to add user sizes?

What is creating the unique dialogue box with the baseplate settings? (see attached)

Also didn't see an option for the over sizes holes when using weld washers.

The washers would be normal holes but the baseplate should be oversized (not slotted)

Anyone have an idea where to find and edit these?

The family for baseplate I found doesn't seem to be the same as the one I'm getting for the connection?

Don't see the controls for the popup menus it has.

They are from Advance Steel database so if you have Advance Steel you maybe able to edit it. Nothing you can do in Revit though.

We have the AEC package that has Advanced Steel.

I thought that was just for AutoCAD though?

It opens into AutoCAD?

Any hints where to edit its Database at?

That's beyond me. I don't have the program and I can't find any settings in Revit to update the database either.

The anchors are all based on the anchors from Advance Steel. These can be edited in Advance Steel using Management Tools and the Anchor editor. However there is no way to edit any of this information in Revit. You could possible try and create a custom anchor in Advance Steel, then export this via .smlx to Revit.

For the base plate the oversized holes (Please note i am working on the UK install so working in MM not Inches)

On the Anchors and Holes tab, set the hole tolerance to Variable, in the example below i have 20mm anchors and want 30mm holes in the base plate so the Tolerance Value is set to 10mm

Base Plate Holes.JPG

For the washer plate holes i want these to be 22mm holes so i set the Hole Tolerance Definition to Variable and set the Tolerance Value to 2mm

For new Anchors as @ToanDN and @múinteoir have said they are based on the anchors from Advance Steel, to add new anchors or sizes to the Advance Steel databases please see the Autodesk Video below

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gGCvrv2vIVM

Once you have your new anchors you need to get them into Revit, all the Revit bolts and Anchors are taken from the Advance Steel databases which have been copied into the Revit folder Structure, so you need to copy the Advance Steel Database with the new anchors and paste it into the Revit folder structure. Please follow the steps below (Again please note i am working on UK builds so the fodler paths will be different)

1. Shut down Revit and Advance Steel

2. Go to the following folder - C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Revit Steel Connections 2019\en-UK

3. Rename the AstorBase.mdf to AstorBaseOriginal.mdf (Always best to have a backup)

4. Delete the file AstorBase_Log.ldf

5. Go to the following folder C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Advance Steel 2019\GBR\Steel\Data

6. Copy the file AstorBase.mdf and paste it into C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Revit Steel Connections 2019\en-UK

7. When you reboot your Revit you will now have the Anchor that you created in Advance Steel available inside your Revit Base Plate connection

Crash course myself is Advanced Steel...

Figured out how to create the 1-1/2" nuts, Washers, Headed anchor bolts.

Can get them to appear correctly in Advance Steel and flip styles...

Yup, There they are in Revit...

Well isn't that interesting.

Thank you for the insight on this.

Not a problem, we would always advice renaming the original databases so you have something to go back to if it doesnt work as expected.

I have a question related to this topic. Within the Base Plate, Anchor and holes section, there are many included anchors for Hilti. How can other manufacturers like Simpson Strong-Tie include their anchors in this list?

Is there any intention to make the bolts/anchors editable in future? I am a Revit user, I do not have access to Advance Steel - even a CSV file would be better than nothing.

On second thoughts a CSV file would be amazing. Then I could load a whole bunch and delete a whole bunch that I will NEVER use and it would only take minutes.
