Using a label on new project information parameter I created.

I'm setting up a starting view to display project information for a project I'm working on. When I added new parameters to project information, I assumed it would be straightforward to create labels linked to each parameter. However, the new parameters I've added in the project information aren't appearing as linkable parameters. Could anyone help me understand why this is happening? Are labels only capable of showcasing default parameters? For instance, I added a parameter for the General Contractor, but the label can't link to it. Thanks in advance for your help!

what do you mean by Linkable parameters?

If you're referring to using Tags, the screen captures show that you're using Project Parameters. They can not be used in Tags. Only Shared Parameters can be used in Tags.

I'm sure I'm not using the correct term, but when you create a label inside of a title block family, you can select what parameter it will show.

I found a workaround to resolve this issue. I created a shared parameter, edited the label, and selected the new parameter. In the Parameter Properties window, I selected the shared parameter I made, which then became available for use. When bringing in the title block, I went to my project parameters, brought in the shared parameter I created, and assigned it to the project information category. This way, I can go to my project information, input the data, and it will automatically populate in the title sheet. Although a simpler way would have been to manually input text in each box, I wanted to learn more about labels and text within a title block family.

Yep, that's what I hinted at earlier, that you probably have to use Shared Parameters for it to work 😉.

Is there a specific reason why I can't simply create a new parameter and use it? I'm curious if the label function only allows for specific parameters or shared parameters. I'm trying to better understand how labels and parameters work.

A Project Parameter can appear in Schedules, but not Tags. a shared parameter can appear in both. using a shared parameter in a piece of equipment works differently than in a title block.

For something like equipment, you only have to load it into the family, and it works when loaded into a project. Labels in Title blocks and generic annotation can be weird.  Any time I load a Label into a Title block if I want it to be usable, I make it a shared parameter, and then load it into the Project as a "Shared" Project Parameter as well.  otherwise, it will not be editable.
