Unable to export IFC due to file size error, but file is not too big.

Hi,

One of our models is suddenly incapable of being exported to IFC as of last week since Revit 2022.1 latest update.

We've tried seemingly everything, different versions, another computer, no links, local file etc etc. We keep getting the same incorrect error from revit stating the model is too big to export.

Has anyone got an idea what could possibly be wrong with this model so that we can't export it to IFC?

Here's the link to the project file:

Not sure what things you have tried.

Use a 3D view for IFC export

Hide all/most categories and/or use filters.

Then export to IFC and see if it works.

Then start to switch on other categories until it fails.

Then see if you can pinpoint it to a certain category/family/instance.

You also can try with(out) IFC addin

Hello L.Maas

I have tried:

Various 3D views

I'll try the category method you mentioned.

Without addin? Revit 2022 has the IFC Exporter build in so i don't think that's an option?

Thanks!

Even with just air terminals on in the categories i get the same error stating that the model is too big to export, which is untrue.

Not quite. They are now available in the Autodesk Desktop App, instead of downloading from appstore or github.

In Windows it is still marked as a separate addin

This was the solution, thank you for letting me know about the IFC exporter needing separate updates.
