Unable to constrain a grouped object

I have a 2025 Revit family that is frustrating. I can create an extrusion and constrain it to the top and bottom family reference levels so it flexes with the Base Offset and Top Offset parameters when loaded into a family

The problem arises when attempting to group the extrusion. Apparently a grouped family cannot be constrained to both the top and bottom levels in the family. I need the grouping for the arraying I'll be doing.

I've attached a sample family. If you open it, go to the Front view, and attempt to shift either reference level, you'll see what I'm referring to.

Anyone have any ideas?

This is just one of the flukes in how they have Revit programmed.

But you can get around it. Instead of locking the top to the level:

Add a reporting parameter dimension from the lower level to the upper level

Edit the extrusion and Associate the Extrusion End parameter to the reporting parameter value (using the equals sign to the right)

That worked! I'd tried other various methods of getting a parameter that the extrusion could read, but couldn't get Revit to behave.

Thanks!!!
