Transfer view template from one view to another view

Good morning/afternoon, I'm in need of some help. I have been trying to figure this out and I have been going around in circles. I have created a view template (inside this template I created new filters with colors and lineweights, etc). This view template has been set for my ceiling plan views. BUT now I want o have them transferred to my floor plan views. And when I try to do that the new view template name I created doesn't show up in the view template names for me to select. (Please see the attachment(.

Hi @brianwclayton1969

Did you set "all" for Discipline & View Type filters ? I can see mine 😉

Hope it helps!

Your template is under ceiling Plan type and you want to assign it to Floor Plan view?  You can turn on type filter to All to reveal the hidden template.  But you should really have created the template under Plan view type.

When I select  <ALL> I can see the hidden templates, BUT after it is set. It wont hold, and stay that way permanently. I need the NEW View Template to stay visible in the box every time.

You mentioned I should have created the template under "PLAN view type" - please explain more on where or how to do that (I may know how but not the terminology).

Thanks

In the project browser, right click on the view with your desired template properties and choose "create template from view."  In the dialog name it whatever you want.  In the next dialog, use the drop down to switch from ceiling to floor plans and click OK.  You might need to check and adjust the default view ranges to make the switch from clg to floor plan templates, I've never actually done it.  But I know it's possible.
