the Ducts do not connect automatically with the Duct Fitting family I made

Hi, I am from Architecture background but I have been requested to made a duct fitting family. I modelled it up, put connectors on both side and tested it. The connectors work fine when the fitting is dragged onto other ducts. They snap to each other.

However, the client has come back to me saying the fitting should be automatically fitted when they draw ducts. For example, when they right click on the end and draw another duct at 90 degree, my 90 degree fitting should be automatically fitted in between the 2 ducts.

I have attached a project file with the family I made ( the one on the upper left and not connected to anything)

click a duct

go to properties palette

press "edit type"

find "routing parameters" and press "Edit"

find your fitting type in the list and from the dropdown menu select your family.

PS: I had to fix the family, as well. if you are interested I can tell you how. I didn't want to look like an arrogant all of a sudden 🙂

please see the attachment

Thanks. your modified families worked. Can you please point out what's wrong with my families? I tried but Revit shows no auto routing available.

Connector element middle points should be coincident to the origin planes that are perpendicular to it. so I moved them together with your model.

Revit shows no auto routing available.

Could you please show the error message and your duct settings?

by the way, your elbow model is available only for Width=350 and Height = 75 dimensions. if you would like to use it with another dimensions your model also should be a parametric model, so that model would change its geometric properties based on the parameters associated.

Thanks again. The duct fittings were made with the manufacturer's specs so they don't flex.

how do I  align the centre of the connector with the plane origins? the alignment tool does not catch anything on the connector. I am trying to manipulate on the 45 degree fitting as well.
