Terminal Scheduling by Level

Can someone please explain to me the logic as to why some schedules can be filtered by level and others not. Why is it I can do it with a Mechanical equipment schedule but not with the Terminal schedule?

Yes you can create a work around by using multiple category schedules and then just filter family type but then you lose some of the paramters specific to that familiy. I mean if I have a 20 story building and I need to create terminal schedules by floor whats the correct way to go about it?

The linked is AutoCad .dwg drawing. 2D only.

And I am placing the ducts and airterminals over it.

Then draw space separation lines to form spaces.  Make sure the air terminals are inside the space volume.

Now it works perfect, after space seperation lines drew.

Just because it was logged doesn't mean it will ever get to development. I'm surprised you haven't found a solution, like the ones in this thread, in the past 7+ years.

That is exactly what is wrong with Revit having to work around all the time. You say you are surprised I haven't found a solution I am not surprised as there are no solutions only workarounds for this problem, and yes I have resulted to using a bodge workaround but I could have save a bit of time if Autodesk would have listened to customers and fixed the issue

Don't get what you mean Rob? All I am asking for is MEP designers to be able to extract level data for families to make scheduling simple rather than having to tell the family what level it belongs to with tedious workarounds.  Many people would like this feature so it is not just me who sees logic in extracting level data from any family.  So what is your point?

Level information is provided via Space, add that to your terminal schedule.

Thanks for your idea this does work with air terminals but the space level is not an available field for duct accessories and some other mechanical families. 

I am not an expert so I am either using Revit 2019 incorrectly or the need for a level field is still required. 

To get the level info associated with the attenuators I have created a shared parameter for duct accessories and added the level info manually to all Attenuators but I know this is not how I should be working in a BIM project as this information relies on manual input and is open for errors.

Please could you comment and advise on a good solution to my problem.

In order to make sure you have the correct level in your level shared parameter, create a multi-category schedule and filter/sort it with level & duct accessories. Make sure the "Itemize every instance" under sorting/grouping is untick. This way you don't have to enter the level of every components.

You can show Level information for Air Terminal, Duct Accessories, Duct Fittings, and some others (I did not test every category) from a Multi-category schedule.
