Tagging the Elevation of a Hosted Fixture

Hello everyone I am trying to see if there is a way to tag the elevation of a hosted element, besides just using text. I Know that this has been a problem since 2012 but I was wondering if anyone has come up with a solution in the last 3 or so years? Thanks

Please either upload or send me the revit file you have this working in. I still see no way how your process LINKS to the 'elevation' value of a light fixture after it has been placed in the project.
Here is a link to an upload site for my company. Thank you!

Sir,

If this tag is really working the way you say it does, I'd really like to see it working in a Revit project. Could you please send me a simple RVT file with a light fixture hosted on a wall with your tag in plan view showing the elevation as a linked value. That would be very helpful. Thank you in advance.

Either upload it to the forums for everybody or use the personal upload place in my previous post.

Thank you for that video! That clarified for me that you put a dimension in the family of the content being tagged (that wasnt clear to me before).

But I'm wondering if you could take a look at the family I've attached. When I place it into a project, the 'Shared Param' will only read the value that is last saved in the Family file, it does not update when the Electrical Fixture is moved up and down in a project. I've included both the family (receptacle) and tag that I'm using. Any advice is appreciated.

Could you possible give an example of a ceiling hosted element that we can tag the elevation of?

i am not sure what is going on with the files you sent...I could not figure out why they are not working.  However, here are the files you requested for a ceiling light fixture that is ceiling based with a tag showing the height of the light fixture in rcp view.  If you change the height of the ceiling, the light fixture will stay hosted to the ceiling and the light fixture height tag will update showing the new height.
