Tag Vertical Pipe with System Pipe Configuration

Hi,

I need to tag the vertical pipes of my projects with a different data that system pipe abbreviation brings with it. For exemple:

My domestic cold water system have the value "CWS" in the system pipe abbreviation parameter, that is one of the informations I'm showing in the pipe tag. In the vertical pipes of this system, instead of showing "CWG", I need to show the VCW abbreviation (Vertical Cold Water).

I thought in add a type parameter in system pipe (like "Vertical Pipe Abreviation"), but this configuration do not appears in the tag (case I'm tagging the pipe, not the system, and the Pipe don't bring this system pipe configuration). I also thought in create a pipe instance parameter and use Dynamo to fill this field, but this would add more steps in the routine (that don't seems to be a smart decision).

I wanna know if there's a way to use the same systems that I already have configured and tag this other information in the vertical pipes of the project.

Thanks.

You can edit the Mark parameter of the vertical pipe to say VWC. Then use a different tag, based on the Mark instead of System Abbreviation, to tag just the vertical pipe.

The mark parameter will work but it's a bit arbitrary.  I'd rather see something somewhat "smarter" even if it were a type in the tag that toggled the visibility of static text. I've done it to indicate up and down and both directions for duct and piping tags.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

would using the Add Separation work in this case? select the vertical pipe and pick Add Separation. Duplicate your Cold water supply system and add a "-Vert" to the end, then change the abbreviation. it should keep them connected but allow you to use a different designation for the vertical pipe.

pardon my "design" i'm not a plumbing engineer 🙂
