Tag/labels

I need to tag/label/annotate all pipes and fittings in my model to correspond with a schedule so I can send the drawing off to have it pre-fabbed. I need to show pipe length and size, also would be very helpful to label each pipe and fitting individually e.g. P01, P02, P03 and so on. I'm currently using Revit 2019.

I'm still fairly new to all of this, I apologize if this is elementary.

Thanks.

its easy to make a pipe or fitting schedule showing pipe type/system, Length, Size, etc. Tagging the fittings individually will need a custom tag, all the Out of the Box Pipe and Fitting Tags are for size.  the attached family uses the Mark value of the fitting to tag by. see link below for instructions on making a pipe schedule.

sorry had the wrong link in initially... 🙂

Thank you, having an issue when I tag the size it's incorrect.

I drew 2-1/2" pipe and the tag is labeling it as 3".

1/2" pipe is labeled 1".

Tags are category based, so you will use a different template for a Pipe tag than you will for a Fitting tag.

  • to make a new tag go to File > New > family.
  • this should point you to the family templates. (T:\_Common\Revit\20xx\Templates\Family Templates\English_I)
  • pick the template to use and select Open.
  • once open you can change default label to use any parameter in that family type.

you can also select and existing family of the correct category and copy it. then edit the copy to modify it as needed.

this link is for Revit 2018, but the basic commands and process hadn't changed.
