I don't believe you can change the name of a system family, however you can duplicate and re-name the family type.

You can create new types of a system family and rename it but you can't change the system family name nor delete it.
Can you please tell me "how" you create a new system family?

Your image is not showing system families. Your issue has to do with Disciplines and Browser Organization.

I can sort in Browser Organization, but it's that "structural" I would like to rename to mechanical. Can this be done?

Like I said, that's the Discipline (of the view).

Can the system family for the view ONLY be set when the view is created then? Or can I change it?
The drop done from attached has no other option than the structural plan. Laymans terms if you can please.
The discipline can be changed in the properties of the view. If it's grayed out then it is being controlled by a view template.
