Saved Project File will not appear when trying to link to a new template

Hello,

I am a college student learning Revit 2022 and I am having an issue my professor doesn't even understand. I am trying to like the project file we've been working on to a brand new mechanical template, however, when I go to select the project file, nothing is in the folder even though I know that is where it is saved.

I'm not the best at Revit so please dumb it down for me or use pictures it would be very helpful. I'm not sure if it is relevant but the project file has both architectural and structural components and the mechanical template I'm trying to link the project to is "Mechanical Default". Please help me out!

Your “project” file is a template file .rte.

You should just be able to change the extension to .rvt and it will be recognised as a project file.

Do this:

File > New > Project > Browse... > Point the RTE file > OK > Save as a Project RVT file.

Unfortunately, it did not work. However, my professor sent me his file which was an .rvt and it worked so I'm not sure what the issue was.

It should have worked - I did the same thing the other day because a couple of our placeholder links had been saved as .rte template files rather than .rvt project files. I just changed the filename extensions and it worked fine after that.

Hello,

Check @ToanDN sequence, instead using OPEN command, use NEW.

Don´t use double click on Windows explorer to open the file!
