Revit – Exporting from Revit to AutoCAD

Hatch Patterns in the Export Setup

This may be a super question for the right Revit Power user familiar with Exporting to AutoCAD from Revit (settings).

In a recent Autodesk posted Document I read Revit users can control the density in hatch pattern when exporting from Revit to AutoCAD.  This is located under the Hatch Pattern to DWG column.  I am using Revit 2021 and was unable to locate the setting.

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/revit-products/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2021/EN....

Please help by providing image of setting location.

Thanks in advance

Are you referring to density of a line based hatch? if so modify the Export Setup at the top of the DWG Export dialogue box,  then choose the pattern tab and you can assign associated ACAD hatch for each Revit hatch.   If you are instead referring to transparency, ie. a nice half tone hatch common in Revit, then you are out of luck, it will come in as completely solid.  Of course Im in 2019, but I would be suprised if that particular workflow/dialogue box has changed.

I wrote a script in ACAD that finds all solid hatches and sets transparency, but I only use those on floors so I did not need to differentiate between different ones,  though this can probably be done.

Thank you for your speedy reply.

I am referring to the density of a line base hatch located in the Export Setup at the top of the DWG Export dialogue box under the pattern tab.   I have assign a Revit Solid pattern to AutoCAD ANSI31 pattern.  And I wish to change the density of the ANSI31 when exported to AutoCAD.  The ANSI31 is too dense in the export file.   Also see attachment.

In my original post link it said there is a setting near that control the hatch density.  However, I'm unable to locate it.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Make sure that you have a valid .pat file named in the export options.

Use the drop down arrow to select the hatch pattern that you want autocad to use.

From the help page which your link refers to:

"Hatch pattern too dense

If a hatch pattern is not visible in the exported DWG file, and the message "Hatch Pattern Too Dense" displays in the AutoCAD text window, try adjusting the AutoCAD system variable HPMAXLINES to increase the maximum number of hatch lines that are generated in a hatch operation. For more information, see the AutoCAD Help."
