I have attached an image for reference. I have elbow family in my project and it has nested grooved coupling fittings.

after we place elbow in project grooved fittings also comes with elbow since they are nested.

 

I want quantification separately for grooved fittings and also I want COBie data for the grooved coupler fitting family that is nested in the elbow .

can i get it done if its nested family or it takes only to the elbow.Elbow family.PNG

Hello,

 

You can create the cobie parameters as project parameters and then create a schedule to fill them.

thanks for the reply sir,

I am not able to select grooved fitting separately if its inside elbow family as nested family.

is there any option that can explode and make them separate.

Hello,

 

In the host family, select the nested family and click on Edit family command to edit it!

is there any solution to select them individually in the project.?

in the edit family we can do this. but i want them individual in the project. because even BOQ is also need to be generated for grooved fittings  individually. since grooved fitting is  nested family there is no other options for me individually perform BOQ and Cobie. what could be the possible solution.

Hello,

 

You can try the following:

- edit the family

- then edit the nested family

- in the nested family properties, check shared checkbox

- reload the nested family in the host family, select to overwrite the data

- reload the host family in the project, select to overwrite the data

Yes , there is a solution;

You can go to Pipe Types > Routing Preferences > Flange , then assign the flange/coupling to the family you want .

in this case , Revit will add a separate coupling to each side if fitting  or valve .

The problem with that is that if you connect fitting to fitting, eg reducer to tee, you end up with extra couplers because each fitting will have a grooved coupler on each end.

i tried it and it did the opposite ..

it added a coupler on the beginning and another one on the other fitting.

If you want to show two couplers on each fitting i think you should add a small segment of pipe
