Revit 2019 Fabrication Configeration is grayed out

Using Revit 2019, I can't access my Fabrication Database to update my services and parts within my model, the fabrication configurations are gray out and won't let me do anything. But I have no problem opening AutoCAD Fabrication CadMEP 2019 to access the same database and make the changes I need to, I can't apply them to Revit 2019. Also I never set up a GUID for the database either so I will have to do this after I get access to the DB.

Hi @Chris-VC_Studio,

The screenshot shows a "Not Available" configuration. It seems Revit can't find it. When starting a NEW project in Revit, is the Fabrication configuration listed at all? Does the configuration have a GUID?: See: Set a GUID for a Database

Please mark any posts that help with "Accept as Solution" and thanks.

No didn't try it, I had to restore an older database that I had backed up on my server.

I am afriad to assign a GUID number at this time because becase I have 3 rather large projects that are using the same database and I am not sure if the others will loose their path due to there being a new GUID number

Hi @Chris-VC_Studio,

I apologize, I accidentally clicked "Accept as Solution" rather than reply.

After speaking to some colleagues, this sounds similar to another case where because the fabrication configuration didn't have a GUID the user wasn't seeing the config listed. We may be able to help here. If you're willing, can you private message me the fabrication configuration and Revit file that we can try to reproduce the issue?

Thank you.

Hi Kelsey

I am having a similar issue when we update our Database. When we make changes in the database Revit gives us the following error

"This Configuration is not available. Please contact the configuration administrator"

The GUID is set and is refreshed but the existing file that was populated with the old database does not reload the changes made. When a new project is started the database loads up and works with no issues.

More than likely something in your database went astray or it got moved from where you had it before. I would try to restore an older version or a backup copy to the old location Revit is trying to pull it from.

The location did not change. The Database we are using is being updated with new content. We would like to be able to update the current Database and be able to refresh it in Revit as we do in FAB. Unless there is something we are doing wrong that causes this it seems that once the database is set you can't change or update it.

Does Revit not allow you to modify, Update or Refresh the Database once it has been set to a specific project? What do you mean when you say "More than likely something in your database went astray"

Sorry I have been out of town for the last week. Yes you can modify the database as much as you want (at I am always changing mine).
But when I posted that question something terribly went wrong with my database and I had to restore it from a version that was unmodified, now I am more careful as to how I modify things and I always achieve the previous version before I make any changes so I restore it with little problem. Let me ask this if you start a new project can you link your database (that is the one that doesn’t work anymore) with the new project?

I did not save the old version of the Database. When starting a new project the Database that was modified works fine. The Project that was started on the original database gives me the error in the screen shot I posted. The location of the Database is the same. Content was added to the database and the services were updated. It was not moved or renamed.

Did you ever get any feed back on this issue? I have the same issue and cannot get a fix. We have made changes as recently as last week and it worked fine. But yesterday Content was added to the database and the services were updated. Yes the GUID number is set and no the database was not moved or renamed, it still works fine in Fabrication.

I was able to repair it myself by replacing the database with an older version. I really didn’t get any help from them as best I can remember nor can I offer any substantial advice except to always backup your database.
