Revit 2018

Ladies and Gentlemen,
Am Collins from Nigeria... I have a little problem in Revit 2018..
I created a new Materials and use them, but once I create a new Project, I won't see those materials again.. I then have to go back and start creating another one.. How do I get those materials back or if possible have them once I create a new Project?? Thanks all.

Hi,

You should create a library, this way the material isn't limited to just the project it has been created in.

You can check out this link here on how to do this:

Hi Collins:

You should be able to copy materials directly from one project into your new project.  The "Transfer Project Standards" tool will do this.

  1. Open both the old project with the materials, and your new (target) project.
  2. In the new (target) project, click Manage tab  >  Transfer Project Standards button.
  3. Click "Check None", then select only the Materials checkbox. You don't want all the others checked.
  4. Click OK

More details and a video are here: http://help.autodesk.com/view/RVT/2018/ENU/?guid=GUID-2A49FE80-1B07-4C95-A0FE-42CE2001F3C2

The Transfer Project Standards tool is also a great for copying other things from an old project into a new project. For example, if you took time to customize pipe or duct sizes, electrical settings, line weights, view filters, or many other settings in one project; then you can quickly transfer the settings into the new file without customizing them all over again. Most of the options in there are for system families and project settings.

Most often, I use the Transfer Project Standards tool to copy the "Project Information" from the Architect's file into my file. That saves me the time of typing all the data they already typed in their title block.
