how do I shut off the background process "system volumes calculating" and "duct systems calculating"? I figured out how to shut off the flow calculations but not the volume? it automatically starts, and wont let me save while its running.

Hi @mbeckmanUMHKN

Welcome to the community! Smiley Happy

It is possible, I see that you already set your systems to Not Computed, but what you can also do to increase the performance or rather prior to synchronizing with the central model is the following...

Scroll down to your Families in your Project Browser >> Duct Systems >> Right-Click on a System >> Type Properties, then under Calculations, select you between the options which would work for you. (You'll need to do this for each system type.)

This is a "newish" implementation from Autodesk and below are two additional links to help you understand what each of the options will do:

LINK ONE (Scroll down the article a bit).

LINK TWO

I hope this helps! Smiley Happy

Hi,

To turn of the background process in Revit 2017 go to task manager and end the process "Revitworker.exe"

Thank you for this response.

This was the key for our issue.

We have never seen this before. What causes the processing to start?

Thanks a lot, that sorted the problem.

Do you know what kicked it to start?

I think this is the key to start back ground process in below image. If you will keep Calculations "All" then it would start background process.System_Calculations.PNG

Yep I got it but I just wonder why is that function just kicked out suddenly preventing us to Synchronize when no Properties at all have been changed for a long time? Can a date be setup for it to run? Its always running?

Its strange as this never happened and took us from surprise.

Thanks for your help guys.

Actually, it is the correct solution. Calculations shouldn't just turn back on without anyone changing the setting. It sounds like you may have a different issue. Please start your own thread and thoroughly describe your issue.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

Hi, first of all that's not an error that is the back ground calculation process. Which you have to stop or please suggest other solution if you find any. It will help us all.

A bit late to the party, but in Revit 2019 this process did not show up in Task Manager. Not sure if it got tucked away somewhere else.
