Project Base Point Clipped gone in Revit 2020.2

I have been working on my laptop away from my office and needed to adjust the project base point.  At my desktop, i wasted about 2 hours trying to do the same and found that my laptop has revit 2020.1 and the desk top has 2020.2.  in 2020.2 how to you move the project base point with the clipped locked to successfully move the location to where you need to regarding adjusting the elevation value? I have uninstalled revit and reinstalled it on my desktop to get that option back.  If autodesk eliminated that option, I suggest they move it back.  I tried re position from the menu but did not obtain the correct result.

Hello @RJK42   Thank you for posting to the forum.

I understand the frustration this must have caused,    Revit 2020.2 and later versions exposed the internal origin point and removed the clip icon in Revit to help in coordination.

Here are some links to further explain.

The clip icon on project base point is not displayed in Revit 2020.2 version

Two options...

1) Move the site survey point (this is what your were really doing previously when moving a clipped project base point)

2) Change your elevation item to reference the project base point (Edit Type) and move the project base point.

I went to your site and read: Please see comments in red

Issue:Users reported that the clip icon is not available when selecting the Project Base Point in the model.
Environment:Revit 2020.2 and later versions.
Status:This incident is being investigated for a possible cause and resolution. Easy - bring back the clip icon
Workaround: tired of work arounds - no more work arounds speak to Architects/Engineers and BIM managers before making your updatesThe clip has been removed from Revit in the Revit 2020.2 update.

To move the Project Base Point in the same way as previously was possible in the "clipped" state:
  1. Go to Manage tab.
  2. Expand Position from Project Location.
  3. Use Relocate Project.

please bring it back - each time Autodesk releases an update and it causes havoc, I have been documenting the time to fix or what has cost me.  There will be a point where I will need to collect what I have lost.

No solution until you bring back the clip.

Project Base Point in 2020.2 is always unclipped. Moving the clipped Project Base Point in earlier versions does absolutely nothing to the model, except moving the Survey Point the opposite direction. And I think that what you need to do, moving the Survey Point instead of the Project Base Point.

Hello @RJK42

As @ToanDN mentions, Does moving the survey point accomplish what you are trying to do?

Can you help us understand the problem you are trying to solve where having access to the clip would help?

There is more information on this topic in the sub section of help called : Not available in the current release

Help: What's New

The following features and workflows are not available.

  • The project base point clip has been removed in Revit 2020.2. To move a clipped Project Base Point, click Manage> Position >Relocate Project.

Revealing the internal origin and removing the clipping icon from the project base point do not appear to have any relation to each other. Furthermore, moving the project in the opposite direction as entered relative to the survey point is a mistake. Please revert the functionality of the project base point to that of version 2019 or provide a hot fix to repair the problem that has resulted. For all intents and purpose, this change in these recent versions looks like an error, a somewhat embarrassing one at that. Solution provided is not acceptable at this time. Thanks.
