Print Space Borders

Is there any way to get Revit to print space / room borders? I have been able to turn them on using vg - spaces - interior which gives a red border around the rooms. I can change the colour and style of the line using a filter, but it doesn't print, and I can't find any way to turn it on?

Is this possible? And if not, why not?

yes they can print

confirm they are on and the graphics overrides are set to how you want them

under Rooms confirm that Interior fill and Refernece boxes are checked.

I have interior ticked, but not reference, as I only want the border line, not the cross in the middle. I have then used a filter to colour the border line. My view looks like this (ignore green fill - I'm not worried about that):

But the printed version looks like this:

I want the border to actually appear on the printed version - any thoughts?

it could be masked out by the furniture layout.

if you have a color fill (disply it) try to change the draw order (BRING TO FRONT)

but dont print the color fill

the 2 pdfs are the result

i set my overrides in visibility graphics for my Room and Space separation lines (no filter)

i created a color scheme and applied it t oone view

I selected NO color scheme for the other

i always print to pdf

Ah, ok, does it still work if your room / space boundaries are walls, rather than space separation lines? 

How did you override in VG? All the options are greyed out for me:

the walls will print normal, in my example I only used room separation Lines for testing

under lines on the Model categories tab 

subcategory 

pick a line weight , color and Pattern

Room Interior Fill and Reference are non-printable.  If you really want the boundary to print, you can create a view with only the Room or Space category visible, export it to DWG with the option below, then link the DWG in Revit.  You need to turn on the layer from the DWG link and override the line to what you need to print.

Have Autodesk come up with a solution to this yet?  I already have a separate Revit model to bring in the ceiling layouts from AutoCAD exports to non-RCP views.  Now I have to have another Revit model to bring in the space boundaries from AutoCAD exports.  So we have to have the AutoCAD package to make Revit work?  I'll do it, but it just seems as daft as a brush. 🙂 [ROFL]

five years and the only solution is to export a DWG and re-import.  seems reasonable.

Instead of waiting, maybe you can look at why you feel this is necessary. Maybe room boundaries is not the right tool for the job. Especially when you consider that they don't print.
