Pipe Flow Arrows

The software needs to come with flow arrows for piping with an option to flip the flow direction of the arrow.

You need to post this on the Revit Ideas forum if you want Autodesk to take notice of it.

There is a workaround using a pipe tag with just text in it (using Wingdings font).

I disagree that it's a need. They are quite easy to make.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

Annotation Tag Families do not currently have Flip Controls, so there would probably be more work than what we're privy to in order to implement something like this.

I'd also be hesitant to include flip controls for flow direction symbols, it's already frustrating enough that duct tap flip controls mask bad modelling practices (this is usually the first sign that your system has flow direction issues or an orphaned open connector).

User-created families exist for flow arrows. I believe you need two types, a Right-Up tag and a Left-Down tag, in order to properly account for angled pipes.

Attached is one that I uploaded in another similar post.

As @robert2JCCH says it has two types, right-up and left-down.

You need to decide which type to use (with Leader turned off), it doesn't automatically sense the flow direction from the pipe.

I've just noticed that the symbols are not quite aligned with the origin in the family, but I can't correct and save that because I now use the viewer version of the software, so you should open the family and nudge the arrow symbols up a bit to get them to sit on the pipe centreline

Why not just use a detail component and rotate as needed?

I assume you mean an arrow that adjusts automatically to flow direction and does NOT require manual selection.

I don't think that can be done, at least not easily.

So, the ideas forum is your best bet. Please place the link here so we can vote on it.
