Pinning linked cad files

Hi Eveyone;

I have a question. When I'm in a Revit Project with a linked cad file, there are times that I accidentally drag my cursor over it and send it into lalaland. I tried to pin the file. Would not pin. tried looking through the manuals still nothing. Does anyone have any suggestions? Any and all will be greatly appriciated. Have a great weekend. I forgot to mention I have 2009 and 2011 Revit.

Hi,

When you select the link, do you have the option to pin it from the modify ribbon. And if so, when you pin it, what happens.

maybe you can use the padlocks with the align command to achieve that, but pinning should work.

You can prevent a user from accidentally selecting the CAD Import/Link by creating a Design Option for it and adding the CAD Import/Link to this. This will prevent a user from being able to select it unless that is the current Design Option or "Exclude Options" is cleared.

Also if you're using 2014, you can uncheck the "Select Links" option under the Modify button on the ribbon (or the icon in the bottom right-most toolbar).

Hi Abulla;

Sorry, I wish we had 2014. We are still in the stone ages with 2009 and
2011.

Hi CADastrophe;

Sorry it took so long to get back with you. I don?t work on Revit
everyday. We are still stuck on regular AutoCAD. I guess the problem I was
having was selecting the object after selecting the ?pin? option in modify.
I was able to select the cad link and pin it but I forgot to select ?Finish
Selection? Now I know how it works.

Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it. Have a nice day.
