Panel Schedules - Spare Load Propagation

Experiencing some erratic behavior in how 'Spare' loads are propagating up my electrical distribution. Running Revit 2016. Per this KB, I have both the 'Include Spares in Panel Totals' and 'Run Calculations for Loads in Spaces' settings checked.

 

It has been previously documented here, and here (although not, seemingly, by Autodesk) that loads assigned to 'Spares' placed in a panel do not propagate up the distribution to the equipment feeding that panel.

 

However, in 2016 I am experiencing a different behavior. My 'Spare' loads are propagating, but only some times. Some photos attached to illustrate.

 

Any thoughts on the inconsistency?

 

What is the official line on how 'Spare' loads are suppose to be handled by Revit?

Hi @MarkK_EEA,   My name is Michael and I'm a Revit Specialist,  Thank you for posting this question.

 

This may have been corrected by the newest update to Revit 2018.  You can get the update from the Autodesk Desktop App or by getting product updates here:  manage.autodesk.com

 

 

In Revit 2016, Please try this workaround to check if the values display correctly.

Move the circuit up or down in the panel. This forces Revit to recalculate the circuit, and should get the new value to show.

Michael,

 

Good to know that this should be resolved in 2018. I look forward to being able to work in the current version. Unfortunately we are stuck in 2016 as the issue we are experiencing is on a active project.

 

I tried moving the circuits, both the circuit for the panelboard and the circuits for the spares. Neither action had any affect. I have also tried removing the spares and add them back in. The I tried deleting the circuit for the panelboard, creating a new circuit, and assigning to the serving panelboard. All to no avail.

 

What else can we do to try and resolve this issue?

Also I should add that the Load Summary at the bottom of the schedule is correct, that is, all the spare load is accounted for. However, as illustrated in the photos in the OP, the loads in the phase columns are not correct.

Michael,

 

The schedules display the same information on the sheet. We actually caught this issue when doing QC on a hard-copy set.

Hi @MarkK_EEA,

I confirmed that this issue with Spares is resolved in Revit 2017 where an additional related problem was also addressed.

Revit: Wrong values in Panel Schedule for Connected Panels

 

Unfortunately, There is not a workaround for Revit 2016.
