Hello everyone.
When I try to "Orient to Plane," it usually orients to the incorrect side.
If anyone has a solution to this problem, please share it.

Please see the attached video for a closer look.

Thank you in advance.

Hi @robert.klempau & @Mahmoud.Ziedan ,

I am trying to set a plane normal to the current view.

Usually while we pick a plane to set it normal to the current view, the view will be oriented to the plane we picked. Here it's working in the other way around.

In the video, I am trying to set the view normal to the front face of the thermostat (The small Rectangular box hosted on to the vertical face) But, what I get is the rear face of the thermostat set normal to the current view.
I attached few screenshots for reference.

I believe it is due to the face of the thermostat....the way the family was modeled affects the faces on the project. For instance, if the face was created by revolving it will not be selected. ( I know this is not your case but just an example)

Anyway, try to pick the wall parallel to the thermostat I think you will reach what you want.

Please if this solves your issue mark it as a solution to help others.

@Radish_G

As Mahmoud said, the orientation of the element might affect which way you're going to look at it after you've picked a face on it.

However, you can get around this issue by setting the Front of your 3D view to the new orientation in the context menu of the view cube. Then you'll be able to rotate the view around by exactly 180 degrees.

HI @Mahmoud.Ziedan & @miklos.martonJGZBC

It might be those reasons you mentioned, And I do think that it's because of the curved edges of the element.

But anyway it's a common problem not related to this particular element. It happens to the flat face like wall as well.
And I do strongly believe that it might be because of some bugs in the software.
