Linking Electrical Properties to Multiple Projects

HI have a serious question I am trying to resolve. My firm and I are trying to push out a project that is linked in through multiple other of the same building. Rather than recreated our drawings over and over again, I am wondering is there any solution to my problem.

The problem is the electrical design shows fine in the Shell model, but because most of our design starts in the Shell model model it is time to work on the upfit. Hence the problem! So I would like for the electrical panels and circuitry to be linked with the shell model but I'm finding this more and more difficult, and before I start researching plugins or using software such ad dynamo I would like to see is there a direct solution to my problem.

The mechanical and plumbing/fire shows absolutely find, but we cant combined the model because project name and funding. So is there anyone that can help? or atleast give some advice.

My only options as the moment are to redraw the design, copy/monitor and paste from aligning view, and researching plugins.

Better ask over the Revit MEP forum.

I believe we are in the MEP Forum, and its a good question that I would love to find an answer for.

There's no way to directly link across models.  You can copy monitor from one linked model to the next, but when you do that you're taking a picture of the object as it is and if something changes (like the connected load) you'll have to change it twice.  I don't think parameter values are included in the coordination monitor function, but I've never had to try it.

I'm not sure I understand why you can't just use phases in a single model even if the projects are technically two separate entities - unless the model is part of your deliverables it shouldn't make a difference, and it might not even then depending on the contractual language.

Hello,

You need to have the circuits in the other file or just being able to show tags and annotations from your shell model?

Considering we are not the PRIME on this project we can't create phases in the project without the owner or other consultants. We have attached the copy monitor for the first floor, and basically redid all our work over again, but we still have 2nd and possibly the roof as different deliverable.

Once again, i believe this is because of project name and funding for the owner.

Filters and some shared parameters come with the link model, but not the circuitry.

The objective is to have the same circuits throughout all, the starting with the shell. I haven't tried to linked model views and tag the wires, but that will just show annotations not the actual panel scheduling.

For example. We place a receptacle on the first floor on panel 1, for the shell. Then we place another receptacle on first floor to Panel 1 also for the Upfit, which is another project, but the same building. I have argued with PM that we can work in one model, but this could caused funding and time issues.

So I'm wondering is there a way to autofil panels schedules from previous projects, with link models.

What you need to do is copy the panelboard as well as all the devices and electrical circuits to your new model (and tags, as needed). This is a PITA, even if you use the systems browser, and is the reason you should phase one model when dealing with MEP in Revit—you just can't attain connectivity across multiple models!

In my opinion, you don't need someone else's permission to implement phasing in your model. Revit's phase mapping capabilities allow other models to work relatively seamlessly with a phased model, without having the same phases.
