Linked Annotations Order/Hierarchy

I am designing HVAC in Revit 2016 and I want to keep the room names visible from my linked arch. model. I want my work to stand out from the arch floor plan so I have halftoned the links. The halftoned room names are appearing "on top" of my ductwork/equipment creating halftone lines going through it. I want my ductwork/equipment to be on top. Is there a way to make my model the "top most layer"?

It appears correct over the rest of the linked model objects, just not the linked annotations. My annotations appear on top of the linked annotations but my objects do not. See attached picture for clarity.

(Side note: same problem if I tag the rooms in my model instead of using the ones in the linked model)

Create spaces in your model instead of using the architect's rooms.  The space naming utility will pull the names/numbers from the linked model for you.

Tag the spaces, enable leaders, and drag the tags off to the top/sides/bottom of the building, using the leaders to point back to the space the tag identifies.

Revit doesn't have any draw order function the way ACAD does - model objects stack according to their relative heights and the view's cut plane, annotation objects are on top of everything, always.

Creating spaces is a bit of a chore, but it does enable you do access/generate all sorts of nifty data and calculations.

Hello @Anonymous,

Annotations are always on top even if they are in linked files.

What I would do is turn off the room tags in the linked model and place my own room tags. (1)

Than set the display setting to the room tags to Halftone.

Now you are able to move the around and you have control over the position.

Thanks for your replies, gentlemen. Unfortunately, creating and leader-ing out all of the room tags was what I was hoping to avoid.

Hello @Anonymous,

I understand what you are saying but I think this is the most efficient way.

Use the Tag All not Tagged option to tag al Rooms in your linked model at once.

Then where the Tag covers the MEP layout you just move the Tag.

I can imagine that you would always see the Room information completely.

I hope you will find this eventually also the best solution. Smiley Wink
