Is it at all possible to create a System Classification

Revit comes with a certain Number of System Classifications. As far as I've seen I cannot make a new one. But I am not looking for a solution from within Revit.

System Classifications are hardcoded into Revit. So I would assume from within the software itself I cannot do it. But what about the Revit API?

I am wondering if it is possible through either the Revit API or the BIM Interoperability Tools (Specifically the Classifications manager) to create a new System Classification to apply to my Medical Gas Piping So that I can Create a New Filter that will control the entirety of that system without having to add a new or Option to my filter every time I need to create a new System type within that system.

Thank you,
Nathan

If you are talking about the piping system classifications. No they are indeed hard coded.

The classification manger from the BIM Interoperability tools ar dealing with classification codes (e.g assembly codes) and have nothing to do with the pipe system classifications .

Also the API will not help. The API is just a way to be able to automate the functions yo would normally do manually. So no option to add new system classifications.

Normally you would make gases under the "Other" system classification. You could use other parameters to assist with your filtering needs. You also could add new (project) parameters to your elements if additional filtering functions are needed
