Hello @brianwclayton1969,

As far as I know it is not possible.

They are hard coded.

You have to choose one of the list.

That doesn't make any sense, becasue I may have a new piece of equipment from another manufacture that isn't listed or a different type of VAV Unit or a different type of heat pump other than a water unit.

Hello @brianwclayton1969

Thank you for posting.  At this time, the ability to add this to the advanced energy settings dialog is not possible.

There may be options for tools on the Autodesk App store.

This poses a major problem when running Heating and Cooling analysis. Since some equipment you select doesn't match the equipment that you have placed in the project, when you run the Heating and Cooling analysis the information is already is incorrect and gives conflicting information, you should be able to insert other mechanical equipment to run analysis more accurate. In the advanced setting you are selecting whatever is there and those selections maybe outdated since Revit isn't updated with the latest Mechanical units.

@brianwclayton1969

I understand how frustrating this is for you.   The ability to add to the list is not currently possible.

I recommend that you submit product feedback HERE. I urge you to mention the business impact that this missing functionality has as it can increase the chances of the functionality being integrated in the future.
