Hiding, or turning connectors on and off

Due to my use of Revit MEP for plumbing, heating, and electrical purposes, I have visited many revit forums to search for answers when I cannot come up with one quickly. One constant problem that has vexed this side of the industry for a while now is the fact that there is no way to turn a connector in a revit family on and off.

I understand that this could be a difficult process, as that family is assigned a system classification based on its connectors. However, if multiple types of connectors are used, say for a boiler family, then the family will have multiple connectors and never be assigned a single system classification. Therefore a method to turn connectors on and off (since sometimes a boiler will have an exhaust or gas attachment switch sides) would be incredibly useful.

I have so far seen posts about this situation dating back to 2012, and it seems like quite a few people would love an answer to this. If it is possible to include a visibility parameter in the connector, that would be excellent!

Yes, would be nice. But then again, not a major issue (to me). Depending on the situation I deal with it in 3 ways.

1-Just create the connectors and use them or not.

2-Create different families with different amount/type of connectors.

3-Create separate (face based) connector families and stick them to the instances where needed.

Please mention Revit version, especially when uploading Revit files.
