can you provide snapshots of what is happening?  most, if not all objects can be hidden/shown using the Hide in View command and the Reveal Hidden Elements command.

Hello,

Visbility Graphics -> Model Categories -> Detail items

Check it = you can see filled regions

non check = you cant see filled regions

You can make a filter only for filled regions.

  • Create a new filter
  • Select the detail items category
  • Create the filter rule Family name equals "Filled Region"

HI, see attached a screeshot of the problem i have.

It is a family with two details items in it. I want to show the triangule in one view and the red socket in other view. the problem i cant do it with parameters, i dont know how.

So i thought to work with the item details in the model. the problem with this solutionis that  I can see the name of the lines in:

Visbility Graphics -> Model Categories -> Detail items

But i cant see here the filled regions that the item details contain.

you can try to use the Visibility Settings command within the family editor when inside the family itself.  This allows you to select objects and tell it what view to be seen in and what level of detail too.

you can also create a yes/no parameter and associate the objects to this parameter (it allows for you to place a checkmark or not so that an object is or is not visible within a project).

the family has some instance parameter yes/no for each item detail. the problem is if i add the family in two views i cant show one item detail (triangule) in the view A and the other item (red Socket) in the view B. when i hide the triangule in view B in view A is hidden.

it sounds like the yes/no parameters are not assigned to the objects properly.

Please, see attached the family with the item details.

Load in any project and try to show in two different views the item details:

View A: triangule

View B: The socket.

with just one type of the family.

if you have a solution, please let me know.

the yes/no parameter is affecting the object to be displayed or not.  Since there is only one instance of the object within your model and you have two different views, the yes/no parameter will not work for you in this case.

you can create two family types within this family

1 family type has the yes/no parameter checked to see the data triangle

1 family type has the yes/no parameter NOT checked to NOT see the data triangle

load this modified family into a project

create two instances of the family using the two different family types

display only what you want by using the particular family in need

Hello,

I see your family but i have no idea what is that device.

I will tell you how to use yes/no parameter step by step.

You can control 1 view with this parameter . For 2 views you need to create 2 family types with 2 yes/no parameters

  1. Open the family in Family Editor
  2. In the Project Browser go to Floor Plans and open Ref. Level.
  3. Select the area you want to control visiblity of.
  4. Go To Properties, Under Graphics select the Associate Family Parameter Option Bar (A pop up window will appear)

1.png

5. In the Associate Family Parameter window select “Add Parameter” located at the bottom left.

2.png

6. A new Parameter Properties window will open.

  • Name describing this option
  • Yes/No should already be selected as Type of Parameter
  • Group under Graphics (this is where it will be listed in properties for you to turn on/off),
  • Select Instance
  • Select ok

3.png

7. Select OK.

8. Load edited family back into Project.

4.png

9.   If family already exists in project you will get this window.  Select Overwrite the existing version and its parameter values

5.png

10.  Now Select the family in view and go to Properties to find the new parameter you created.  Check or Uncheck for that view.

But if the solution is create two different types of family i will have clash between both types in the model. because there will be two floor boxes in the same place to show the item details in two different views.

the problem isnt how yes/no parameters work, because that in the family is perfect.
the problem is how to show in two different views of the model the same family type with the two differente item details.
View A: show the triangule
View B: show the socket
but with the same family type

Hm i have im my mind if/then parameter. This should be work for you.

But i think this family will be too hard for use. Easiest way is to create 2 type of family with different visability settings.

I have one more solution in mind . If you set your 2 floors with different visual styles you can just make you family to show element A in style coarse , element B in style fine .
