If you have a file that has the shared parameters in it already, they can be extracted to make a "New" Shared Parameter file.

  • Open the file containing the Shared Parameters.
  • create a new, blank, shared parameter file.
  • in a project, pick the Project Parameter option and select the parameter
    • if in a family pick the Type selector and edit the parameter
  • pick Export
  • the parameter will be saved in the "current" Shared Parameter file set in the Shared Parameter setting.

The way above will work but best to download DirootsOne and use the Parameter Manager. You basically just open a drawing, open parameter manager, and export parameters. All of the parameters will be exported to a new file.

I don’t use the native Revit parameter functions for anything. It’s slow and tedious. Every time I use it in the past I’m left wondering why Autodesk hates its clientele.

once you’re done exporting it, you can use it to create new parameters forever. It’s free.

Also, you can export them all at once. No need to click each one in every group.

I came here to reply and saw that npconsultingllc said exactly what i was going to say. DiRoots One is free and their parameter tool will do this task for you.
