Whenever I export a gbXML file (after creating the analysis model and all that), the geometry is always oriented towards true north rather than project north with a rotation parameter. For example, if a simple rectangular building is on an angle form true north, even if a project north is set up in the model to keep things clean, the exported gbXML shows the building diagonally. Is anyone aware of a setting somewhere where I can change this in order to keep my energy model cleaner (and avoid some of the stairstepping that can happen with exports from Revit on diagonal surfaces)?
I dont think you can export it any other way. Im only guessing here but gbXML export is for thermal modelling so true north should be the only option
That's what I've found as well, but wanted to check to see if I was missing something. I disagree that it should be the only option though. It's very common in thermal modeling to also have a project north which is different from a true north, for the exact same reasons Revit does it, and there is in fact a site rotation in the gbXML schema (named azimuth), so in theory this should be possible.
