Revit 2018 gets stuck and just spins at at 74% during a 2017 rvt file upgrade. Is there a cause or solution to this?

Yes.

How long does it do it?

If it has links, are they upgraded?

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

I've had it stuck at 74% for almost 2 hours. Every time I click "cancel upgrade" Revit just crashes.

Not sure about links. this file isn't my project. I would attach it here, but can't due to NDA.

Is it a central file, local file, or copy thereof?

It's a copy of the central file.

The file was detached before it was sent to me.

We need to verify that, if you have the option to detach from central, that you selecting it.

Yeah, it wont even give me the option to detach when i select the file.

So another weird thing happened. When I open it straight from DropBox, it'll begin to upgrade the file and get all the way 97% then freeze up. If i open in Revit, it's always stuck at 74%

Try doing an audit with 2017 and then purge unused before doing the upgrade. Check for missing links at that time, too.
