Family with a pipe connector can't move it horizontally

Good morning everyone,

I have this issue that I don't know how to solve it.

I'm creating a family with a pipe connector, when I place it selecting the reference plane it creates the connector on the center of the reference plane with the option of setting the radius.

I need to move it horizontally, I tried setting a parameter d2 and I've tried to modify in order to check if it works:

every time it shows me "constraints are not satisfied"

How can I do it to move this pipe connector?

Thank you,

Gio.

You need to put the connector on an extrusion and use parameters to move the extrusion.

I've put the connector on an extrusion surface but automatically goes on the center and you can't adjust it...

I attached the file family if u want to check it...

As u can see the connector it s on the middle of front plane of extrusion.

I would like to move it more on the left side.

Thank you

Like I said in my previous response, you need to use the parameters to move the extrusion. The connector will move with the extrusion.

Hello,

Just adding more detail to @RobDraw explanation, you have to create another geometry, which can have its position controled by a parameter connected to a dimension, then place the connector to this second geometry.

In you example, the connector will only move, if the center of the face changes.

I'm running into problems with this exact same procedure. I've gotten as far as creating an extrusion for the pipe connector with dimensions to flex the position of the extrusion. I would like the location of the pipe connector to be  driven by a yes/no parameter (to change which side of a fan coil the drain pipe connects to). It works fine in the family editor: change the yes/no parameter and the pipe connector moves. However, once it's in a project, changing the yes/no parameter does not affect the position of the pipe connector. The pipe connector only moves in the project if I define the extrusion with Type parameters. Is this a limitation of MEP connectors, or am I doing something wrong? Attaching the family just in case someone feels like taking a look at it.

Your situation is quite different. You should start a new thread so as to not confuse this one.

I retract my reply and provide this link to a new thread in its place.
