Element shows no color in one floorplan but does in the other

A colleague of mine was struggling to have a certain element colored red as it is in other views.

I can't for the life of me figure out what causes the red color to disappear from the element in one of the floorplans.

There's a plan region, that when deleted also removes the element i'm trying to show in red.

Filter was added and removed, this made no difference.

It doesn't seem to be the material either, i've checked it and it works as intended anywhere else.

Are there any more features i could check? i'm pulling my hair out currently..

You know what I’m about to say…..upload the model so that we can get inside it and play about with the various visibility settings.

Questions like this regarding visibility are almost never solved by looking at a couple of screenshots, there are just too many reasons why something doesn’t appear as it should.

As far as I can determine its the view discipline which is making the difference.

The item is a generic model and shows the fill in shaded coordination views but not in mechanical views.

If the element is changed to  a mechanical category instead of generic model it shows filled in all view disciplines.

In addition to the advice from @iainsavage, you can select that object_right click_override graphics in view_by element, choose red... quick and dirty way if time is an issue.  I would say the right way to it is outlined by @iainsavage.  Good luck to you.

Dear Ian, Thank you so much for the tip!

To change the template from mechanical to coordination was not wanted. But instead i changed the family to a mechanical equipment rather than generic model.

This change has worked and made the element red in all views as intended.

Is there any specific reason, why Revit refuses to make this generic model the color it was given in certain templates? I haven't encountered this before and we have used plenty of generic models in all sorts of templates.

It's just one of those Revit facts that we have to accept. It's not just generic families that behave differently by discipline but the category should give you a clue. It's advisable to find an appropriate category when building families even when starting with the generic model template, the first step should be to assign it a category. Save the generic category for those things that truly don't fit in any of the categories.

As you presumably know, in MEP discipline views the Architectural elements show as wireframe and halftone and the materials don’t display.

Revit sees a Generic Model as an “architectural” element so it was wireframe in your mechanical view.
