Duct not showing in architectural model

I did a very basic duct layout to show diffusers and duct in a room that will not have a ceiling. I used the Revit Mech template, referenced in my arch model did my layout and it looks fine. I drew only duct and diffusers, and did not attach supply equipment because it is in another room. This this thing is for show only. I referenced the mech model into my arch model and got very little of my duct work.

Even the best software tools tend to be limited by the imaginations of their designers. Nobody is smart enough to optimize for everything, nor to anticipate all the uses to which their software might be put."

In this particular case, applying The Rule of Least Surprise in the form of consistency creates windows of opportunity for productivity gains where none are recognized by advocates for "one true way."

Persistent inconsistency in a commercial productivity tool like Revit is an economic risk to end users which makes it a risk to Autodesk itself.

Jake

So, even if someone does something wrong, they should be allowed to be successful? Sounds like participation trophies.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

Please see attached for documentation that shows the successful isolation of the duct display problem. The attached documentation shows that the duct display problem is related to View Range. The attached documentation also shows a functional resolution of the duct display problem so that duct is displayed as desired.

Conclusions:

1. Revit is functioning consistently in that Plan Regions do not control the display of MEP elements in the form of Duct segments.

2. Revit seems to be functioning inconsistently in that Plan Regions do control the display of MEP elements in the form of Air Terminals, Duct Fittings and Pipe Fittings for example.

Recommendations:

1. Resolve the seemingly inconsistent functionality of Plan Regions as they relate to MEP elements.

2. Provide MEP specific documentation to explain the practical employment of Plan Regions particularly when it comes to their use in an RCP host view.

Jake

Your documentation belongs elsewhere. The problem has already been identified in this forum. This is not the place to request program fixes. A post like that should go into the IDEAS forum or product feedback. Good luck.

This is a user help forum. My advice to you is to explore alternative methods to get what you want as plan regions do not function as expected.
