Disabling Invisible Box Around Text

I'm working on an MEP project in which I have a lot of text over and around ductwork and piping. It's getting to the point where if I want to click on a duct/pipe that is close to a text box then I end up selecting the text instead because of the invisible box that is around the text.  Is there a way to "disable" that box so that if I wanted to select the text I have to click on the text itself and not just be within the whole text box.

Have you considered working in a different view? Most people utilize working views and only use the view on the sheet for doing annotations only.

If you reduce the leader/border offset value it should help with that

I didn't think of doing this and it's something I'll consider for future projects but unfortunately I don't have the time to utilize it for this project

This is helping since I didn't realize I could change the size of the border offset. I put it all the way to 0 and I'm running into less misclicks. Thanks!

You can implement it very quickly but if you'd rather waste time fighting with annotation, that's your choice. There are several ways to approach this and all are much easier to implement than you think and all will save you time.

But, hey, that's just me.

Reduce leader/border offset would help. Be aware that if you reduce it to 0 the leader will be very close, almost touching the text.

Temporary view overrides are the bees knees.
