Dimension tick mark/tag to snap in the center of symbol

Hey, 

if you please see the picture attached below Dimensioning 1 you can see a 2D symbol to which I added two dimensions. However I cannot find any solution on how to place dimensions so that their tick marks would snap to the center point of a symbol. The end result should be as shown on the picture Dimensioning 2 which is done by zooming in and moving manually. The same question applies when adding tags - they never snap in the center of a symbol...

draw a quick ref plane and snap your dimension to that.  Ref plane will not plot.

or even a refline can be useful.. but for using it easier in the future you should create 2 inside the symbol.rfa intersecting reflines marked as strong-reference in order to have a snap origin in the project (where they are invisible).

I think I didn't explain myself clearly. I want to fix the dimension so that it would be in the same line with the center of the object. But this I cannot figure out. Please see the screencast below. Adding 2 dimensions and a text note everything looks like a mess when zooming in.

I believe your problem is more related to family creation than the dimesions, can you share your family?

Yes, sure. 

I mean in Autocad before you place the dimension line it gives a snap point which allows a dimension line to be in level with the center point of the object i.e. (see Dimensioning 3).

Please check the family, the change I did was to make the auxiliar reference planes as Not a reference.

It is a bit better, still unable to place the dimension exactly in line with the symbol, but better!
